If you are going on holiday outside of Western Europe or North America you may need to have some travel vaccinations or malaria tablets. The vaccinations, if needed, should be given at least 2 weeks before travel but can be given well in advance of your travel date. Please fill in the travel vaccination form (on line or at desk) and submit it when making an appointment with one of our nurses. During the summer months our nurses can be booked up several weeks in advance. It is your responsibility to make sure that you book an appointment early enough to make sure you have vaccinations at the right time. We would suggest that you book an appointment as soon as you book your holiday.
Some vaccinations are available on the NHS some are not, a fee will be charged for some vaccinations. Please discuss this with the nurse. No malaria tablets are available on the NHS and you will have to pay for them. Some can be bought direct from a chemist, some require a private prescription. Please discuss this with the nurse.
In the event of you being unable to book an appointment here at Kingsholm Surgery before you travel then you may need to book a private appointment for all your vaccinations at a private travel clinic. We would suggest you use your preferred internet search engine to find local clinics. All the vaccinations/advice given at these clinics will be charged for.
